NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

Introduction:

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Established in 1969, the NSS aims to develop the personality and character of students through voluntary community service. It provides opportunities for students to participate in various social welfare activities and encourages them to contribute to the development of society.

Motto:

“Not Me But You”

This motto reflects the spirit of selfless service and the importance of prioritizing the welfare of others above personal interests.

Vision:

To create a socially responsible and committed youth force dedicated to the service of society, promoting national integration, and building a better and inclusive India.

Mission:

  • To inculcate a sense of social responsibility and community service among students.
  • To develop leadership qualities, team spirit, and democratic attitudes through voluntary activities.
  • To promote awareness and participation in national development programs.
  • To foster a spirit of unity, cultural harmony, and cooperation among young people from diverse backgrounds

Objectives:

  1. To develop the personality of students through community service.
    Engaging students in activities that help them grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
  2. To inculcate the spirit of social welfare and civic responsibility.
    Encouraging youth to contribute actively to societal betterment.
  3. To promote national integration and unity among students.
    Organizing activities that bring together youth from different cultures and regions.
  4. To sensitize students towards the needs of the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society.
    Providing service opportunities to help marginalized communities.
  5. To motivate students to participate in health, hygiene, environmental protection, and literacy campaigns.
    Promoting awareness and action on key social issues.
  6. To develop leadership qualities and democratic attitudes among students.
    Through participation in group activities and planning social initiatives.
  7. To encourage students to take part in disaster management and relief activities.
    Preparing youth to respond to emergencies effectively.
